As today’s star is small and sweet, so too will be this post. While sorting through my grocery list, I realized that I had not written about kiwi. They’re not a fruit I do all the time, but occasionally I enjoy the taste of a kiwi to spice up my fruit intake. Why do kiwi?
- An excellent source of vitamin C, think that it’s such a rock star, that it is equivalent with an orange! This means is a great antioxidant (remember yesterday’s post on inflammation and eating foods rich in antioxidants to decrease free radical damage?) and vital for immune system function.
- Provides a variety of flavonoids and carotenoids making it even better for antioxidants
- It’s a very good source of dietary fiber
Good news: it’s available virtually all year with California grown available November through May and New Zealand’s emerald treasures available June through October. Enjoy!
